LE5 Drug Tester Firmware Upgrades

Guiding you through how to upgrade both the Main Module and Sample Module firmware.

Before you begin, ensure you have:
  1. The most recent version of Alcolizer’s AlcoCONNECT™ Toolbox PC software download from this page.
  2. The firmware updated files downloaded by clicking here
  3. Unzip the file to a folder of your choice.
  4. Ensure your LE5 Drug Tester instrument is charged, fully functional and turned on.
  5. Connect your LE5 drug tester instrument with the USB connection cord supplied.
  6. Please allow for 10-15 minutes to upgrade the firmware.

 

To Upgrade Firmware
  1. Open the AlcoCONNECT™ Toolbox desktop app on your PC: AlcoCONNECT™ Toolbox welcome screen
  2. Ensure the LE5 druglizer is turned on and connected via the USB cable (the USB connection port located on the left side of the instrument) to your desktop PC.
  3. A successful connection is indicated by a green highlighted segment of text on the bottom left corner of the window. It will display the name of the connected Alcolizer instrument.
  4. At the top of the window, click the ‘Tools’ menu item click on ‘Firmware Updates.’
  5. A ‘Firmware Updater’ window will appear. This firmware will take 5 minutes to install and a successful installation will be confirmed via a beep from the instrument.
  6. Click either the small rectangular button on the top right of the window as circled below or drag and drop the firmware file in the input area as shown below
  7. Your computer will display a window for you to locate the firmware. Navigate to the folder you unzipped the firmware file into and select the MAIN MODULE firmware file . It will have “RN-…” in its name. Then click the ‘Open’ button. Note: File names used in this instruction are examples only
  8. The new firmware file version will be displayed next to the existing firmware. If AlcoCONNECT™ Toolbox recognises newer firmware it will allow an update and in that instance, click the ‘Update Device Firmware’ button.
  9. Installation will take about 5 minutes. A bar at the bottom of the window will display progress.
  10. The instrument will emit a beep to confirm install completion.
  11. If required, remove and reinsert the Sample Module to help reset the instrument.
  12. Close AlcoCONNECT™ Toolbox and disconnect the USB cord from the instrument.
  13. Open the About screen on your instrument to check the firmware (Software) Versions. The versions displayed should be the same as indicated in the filenames.
