For breathalyser devices purchased prior to March 2021 and designed to the Australian standard current at that time (AS3547:1997), it may be worthwhile considering the benefits of the revised standard to see if it will improve your testing efficiences. Particularly with our new bundles recently released offering significant savings for our HH4 device.
Benefits for upgrading to the Current Standard AS3547:2019 include:
- Time efficiencies with calibration as there is now only an annual calibration requirement rather than 6 monthly
- The new standard includes extra requirements for improved robustness and reliability ensuring extremely accurate and reliable testing capabilities
- The unit of measure basis changed from Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) to Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC) to align with those used by law enforcement across Australia
- The long term drift performance of devices (the ability to maintain accuracy over time) has increased from a minimum of one month to a minimum of six months
- There has also been an increase to the metrological testing requirement with new tests introduced to ensure devices are accurate within a range of flow rate
- Additional physical requirements were also added to test for environmental issues such as shock and vibration, electrical disturbances, temperature, humidity and battery charge.
We suggest reviewing your requirements for breath alcohol testing, taking into account the above features to make an informed decision about whether an upgrade to the current standard would offer benefits to your alcohol testing.
What cost is involved in upgrading to the current standard?
Our new product bundles offer significant savings for our HH4 breathalyser device starting at $999 (HH4 currently retails at $1,295). The two new bundle offers include workplace alcohol testing $999 and an introduction to drug and alcohol testing $1399.
