This training delivers the nationally recognised unit of competency HLTPAT010 – Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing.
HLTPAT010 – Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (which supersedes HLTPAT005 Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing) is the updated industry standard for workplace drug and alcohol testing. This new unit reflects updated regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
If your workplace conducts drug and alcohol testing, we can help your organisation transition smoothly aligned with current Australian and New Zealand Standards, State and Commonwealth legislation, and industry codes of practice:
- AS/NZS 4308:2023 – Urine collection and testing
- AS/NZS 4760:2019 – Oral fluid collection and testing
- AS 3547.1:2019 – Breath alcohol testing devices
Upon successful completion, you will be recognised as a competent collector for breath alcohol, oral fluid, urine, and confirmation samples.

Upon succesful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment and a card to display when conducting testing.
Delivery Options
- Online / Self-Paced includes a practical kit delivered to your workplace with up to 120 days from enrolment to complete:
- Online theory (approx. 10 hours)
- Written assessment (approx. 2 hours)
- Practical assessment via video conferencing (approx. 1.5 hours)
- Requires AS3547.1:2019 approved Breath Tester, a computer and access to a reliable internet connection.
