This training delivers the nationally recognised unit of competency HLTPAT010 – Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing.

HLTPAT005 Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing has been superseded by HLTPAT010 – Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing, the updated industry standard for workplace drug and alcohol testing. The new standard reflects updated regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

If your workplace conducts drug and alcohol testing, we can help your organisation transition smoothly aligned with current Australian and New Zealand Standards, State and Commonwealth legislation, and industry codes of practice:

  • AS/NZS 4308:2023 – Urine collection and testing
  • AS/NZS 4760:2019 – Oral fluid collection and testing
  • AS 3547.1:2019 – Breath alcohol testing devices

Upon successful completion, you will be recognised as a competent collector for breath alcohol, oral fluid, urine, and confirmation samples.

Delivery Options

Online / Self-Paced
Includes a practical kit delivered to your workplace. Students have up to 60 days from enrolment to complete:

  • Online theory (approx. 10 hours)
  • Written assessment (approx. 2 hours)
  • Practical assessment via video conferencing (approx. 1.5 hours)
  • Requires AS3547.1:2019 approved Breath Tester, a computer and access to a reliable internet connection.
  • Cost $650 per person (GST-free)

Face-to-Face
Delivered at your workplace with theory and practical components integrated into the training session. Pricing depends on student numbers and training location.

Certification

  • Statement of Attainment for HLTPAT010
  • Statement of Attainment Card for display when conducting testing
