Sustainability Processes & Practices

We're not just creating innovative testing solutions, we're building a sustainable future!

Built for longevity and durability, our devices reduce long-term operational costs and contribute to more sustainable practices by minimising the need for frequent replacements. Alcolizer Technology is dedicated to upholding sustainable processes throughout our operational chain, spanning from product manufacturing and distribution to storage and end of life management. We prioritise sustainable packaging solutions, collaborating closely with our suppliers to implement eco-friendly solutions while retaining product functionality.

Our manufacturing facilities implement water conservation measures, limiting water use to basic office needs (bathrooms and kitchen facilities). Our Balcatta facility utilises solar panels equipped with a 27kW inverter, capable of meeting solar energy demands during peak sunlight in summer, alongside strategically timed air-conditioning units to optimise energy consumption.

Strengthening our commitment to environmental sustainability, our recycling initiatives to reduce product emissions including a fuel cell specific recycling program in the UK. Successful recycling demands precise component separation (instead of mass crushing or disposing complete units) to ensure optimal material recovery.

Through methodical disassembly, we’ve achieved higher acceptance rates in recycling programs, enhancing our environmental performance. Our handheld devices undergo systematic dismantling, with parts categorized into specific groups including circuit boards, fuel cells, lithium batteries, LCD displays, plastics, and metals. Specialised recycling operators regularly collect and process these sorted materials.

We regularly evaluate innovative solutions to improve our supply chain and determine their alignment with our sustainability practices. We investigate eco-friendly alternatives in our product range including biodegradable straws, our patented passive testing sampling cup and hybrid solutions for remote testing to enable self-testing options that reduce travel-related emissions.

Our nationwide operation necessitates considerable travel, especially for our service and onsite testing teams; however, detailed planning through our zone management approach helps minimise and streamline travel where possible.

We remain committed to building a sustainable global future through the creation and delivery of drug and alcohol testing solutions that balance business success with environmental responsibility, considering the long-term impact of our choices on environmental, social, and economic aspects.
