This month we are proud to support a Charity Golf Day raising funds for Blood Cancer Research WA (BCRWA).
Since inception in 2019, BCRWA has made over 139 clinical trials available to West Australians and treated over 1,000 patients.
Our founder and director of Alcolizer Technology, Gary was a patient of theirs and knows what a difference they made to his life.
54 Australians are diagnosed with blood cancer every day, that’s one every 27 minutes. Over 135,000 Australians are living with blood cancer and it’s anticipated that by 2035 that will have increased to 275,000.
A keen golfer, Gary said in his dark days of treatment he thought of ways to show support and gratitude to Professor Cheah for having such an impact on this own life. Being diagnosed with Leukaemia, Lymphoma or Myeloma is becoming more and more common and without the support of family and your own home environment, recovery is already tough enough.
BCRWA was established to ensure WA patients had access to new blood cancer treatments through clinical trials without having to travel interstate. They have seen significant growth with new clinical trials being opened, enabling over 1,000 patients to gain access to potentially lifesaving treatment.
Gary’s Charity Golf Event is made extra special with each team being matched with a voluntary ex and current West Coast or Dockers football player. The event is a full day of 18 holes ambrose style followed by a charity dinner and auction event. It has been held once previously and raised over $220,000 with ALL money raised going to BCRWA.
