The Australian & New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4760:2019 procedure for specimen collection and the detection and quantification of drugs in oral fluid outlines the procedures for the collection of oral fluid, on-site drug testing, handling and dispatch of specimens to the laboratory and confirmatory testing.
What many aren’t aware of, is the requirement for the re-verification of devices in accordance with Appendix C of the standard to be performed at intervals of no more than 36 months.
AS/NZS 4760:2019 superseded AS 4760:2006 and didn’t include verification criteria for collection devices as well as:
- Cut-off limits for a number of analytes for initial and confirmatory testing have changed;
- Different methodologies are described for laboratory screening;
- Additional drugs have been included in the latest version of the standard with Druglizer verified to ALL drugs as listed Appendix A Table A1
