Why is OXY part of the new Australian Standard?

Alcolizer Technology has received a ‘Racing Analytical Services’ report confirming Druglizer 7 panel cartridge including Oxycodone at screening cut-off level of 40ng/mL, has been verified to C3- Verification of performance of devices used for the collection, on-site testing, transport, and storage of oral fluid specimens- On-site devices, of the Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZ4760:2019.

Legal or pharmaceutical opioids (including codeine and oxycodone) are responsible for far more deaths and poisoning hospitalisations than illegal opioids (such as heroin). Every day in Australia, nearly 150 hospitalisations and 14 emergency department (ED) presentations involve opioid harm, and 3 people die from drug-induced deaths involving opioid use.1

With Opiate use on the increase in Australia, and with anecdotal evidence supplied by reporting Australian and New Zealand Laboratories that Oxycodone has been detected in samples, Oxycodone was included in the revised AS/NZS 4760: 2019 Australian and New Zealand Standard. Please note Oxycodone is “optional” and not mandated to be screened for

Please check your company’s Policy and Procedure if Oxycodone needs to be specifically screened for.
