Accreditation Matters

The National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) functions as Australia’s primary accreditation organisation. NATA’s mission is to protect national and public interests by verifying that accredited organisations meet applicable Australian and international standards, thereby demonstrating their capability to deliver consistent, reliable results and information to government bodies, industries, and the broader community.

NATA accreditation provides an assurance of the competence, impartiality and integrity of facilities. NATA strives:

  • To support Australia’s technical infrastructure, underpinning all activities that rely on testing, measurement, inspection and related services;
  • To deliver best practice and cost effective accreditation and complementary services that serve members and the national interest.

International arrangements
NATA undergoes regular evaluation by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) to maintain its status in Mutual Recognition Arrangements. Assessment teams include representatives from accreditation bodies across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific regions. This confirms NATA’s methods align with global standards. NATA also takes part in evaluating its mutual recognition partners.

The value of peer assessment
NATA evaluations primarily function as peer reviews. The organization depends extensively on the specialized expertise of its volunteer technical assessors. These assessors are chosen based on their technical knowledge, expertise, and understanding of relevant industry matters. This ensures NATA assessments remain up-to-date with emerging technical developments and industry trends.

What is accreditation?
Accreditation represents the process of identifying, evaluating, and endorsing organisations that conduct specific technical and scientific activities. These include measurement, testing, calibration, and inspection tasks, with accreditation confirming compliance with relevant national and international guidelines.

Alcolizer Technology maintains NATA accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to superior performance and reliability standards for customers and community benefit. We comply with international standards while addressing quality, compliance, and risk requirements.
