Delta Electricity Leads the Way in Safety with Centurion Quantum Upgrade

Delta Electricity’s Vales Point power station has completed a full upgrade of its alcohol breath-testing program, replacing six legacy devices with Centurion Quantum breathalysers.

Every test conducted on site now complies with the latest AS 3547.1:2019 professional standard, strengthening both accuracy and safety in this high-risk, zero-tolerance workplace.

Why the Upgrade?

Vales Point had previously operated with a mix of devices – some certified to the older AS 3547:1997 standard, and one upgraded to the AS 3547.1:2019 standard. While compliant at the time, this created the potential for inconsistent results. By moving entirely to the newer certification, Delta has eliminated any uncertainty and ensured that all staff are tested under the same, most reliable conditions.

Why the 2019 Standard is Superior

The AS 3547.1:2019 standard replaced the 1997 version with important updates that directly improve safety outcomes:

    • Greater Accuracy
Stricter tolerances mean results are more reliable, especially at low concentrations where decisions about fitness for work are most critical.

    • Interference Resistance
The standard now requires devices to be tested against common substances like mouthwash, chemicals, and fumes that could otherwise trigger false readings.

    • Real-World Reliability
Devices must perform consistently across a wider range of workplace conditions, from temperature to humidity, reducing the chance of unexpected errors.

These improvements ensure that breath test results are both defensible and trustworthy, giving employers and employees alike confidence in the process.

Setting the Standard in Workplace Safety

By completing this upgrade, Delta Electricity has demonstrated leadership in adopting the most up-to-date and rigorous approach to alcohol testing. For a site where safety is non-negotiable, the move to Centurion Quantum ensures every test is conducted with accuracy, fairness, and reliability.
