A Wake-Up Call for Workplace Safety
New research from RACQ has revealed a troubling rise in drink-driving across Queensland. Alarmingly, more than half of surveyed drivers admitted to changing their route to avoid police after consuming alcohol and 15.7% knowingly drove over the legal limit.
This isn’t just a road safety issue – it’s a workplace risk.
With 71.2% of respondents concerned about being over the limit the day after drinking, and 6.1% admitting to driving after taking illegal drugs, the data paints a clear picture…
Drugs and / or alcohol are impacting safety far beyond the roads. In fact, Queensland’s positive drug rate for roadside tests reached 21% in 2023, more than double that of New South Wales.
At Alcolizer Technology, we believe safety starts with awareness. That’s why we’ve developed our Drug and Alcohol Awareness course designed to help teams:
- Recognise and respond to risks
- Understand their legal and workplace responsibilities
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and support
Whether you’re in a safety-critical role or part of a broader team, proactive education and testing strategies are essential to reducing risk and protecting your people.
How is your organisation responding?
