What Do You Need to Do Prior to November?

1. Update Policies & Procedures
   • Reference AS/NZS 4308:2023 in your Drug and Alcohol Policy & Procedure.
   • Reflect new cut-off levels and terminology changes.
2. Check Inventory
   • Ensure on-site testing kits comply with the 2023 standard.
   • Kits designed for the 2008 standard will have incorrect thresholds for substances for cocaine and its metabolite, Benzoylecgonine.
3. Train Staff
   • Provide gap training for Authorised Collectors.
   • Include updates on terminology and security procedures.
4. Confirm Laboratory Readiness
   • Partner labs must process samples, and report results according to the new standard.

⚠️ Why It Matters

Failure to transition by November will result in NATA accreditation withdrawal or suspension for this standard for accredited providers and a legal nightmare in FWC if the wrong Standard was used in an unfair dismissal case
