A Behind the Scenes Look
Workplace drug testing depends on systems that are accurate, consistent, and able to withstand scrutiny. The result may appear straightforward but is supported by rigorous quality processes operating behind the scenes.
Each month, our Quality Assurance team prepares and analyses RCPA-QAP urine toxicology samples as part of an external proficiency testing program.
These independently supplied samples are designed to replicate real‑world conditions and assess performance across systems, processes, and people. Alongside external proficiency testing, ±50% cut-off quality control samples are analysed monthly, and all new lot numbers are quality controlled upon arrival.
External proficiency testing is a key control in maintaining confidence in drug testing programs. It provides independent confirmation of accuracy, helps identify issues early, and verifies ongoing performance over time. Reliable results are not accidental, they’re the product of disciplined systems that are regularly tested and reviewed.

Although quality assurance work is rarely visible, it plays a vital role in protecting customers and supporting compliance. Regular external review helps ensure testing programs remain consistent, compliant, and aligned with recognised best practice.
This work may happen quietly, but it delivers confidence where it matters most: that test results are supported by independently verified processes, month after month.
