Sustainability at Alcolizer Technology
At Alcolizer Technology, our products are built to last. Their durability helps reduce long-term operational costs and supports sustainable practices by minimising the need for frequent replacements.
We’re committed to sustainability across our entire operational chain – from manufacturing and distribution to storage and end-of-life management. We prioritise eco-friendly packaging and work closely with suppliers to ensure solutions that are both sustainable and functional.
Energy and Water Efficiency
Our manufacturing facilities are designed with conservation in mind. Water usage is limited to essential office needs such as kitchens and bathrooms. At our Balcatta site, we’ve installed solar panels with a 27kW inverter, which meets energy demands during peak summer sunlight. We also use strategically timed air-conditioning to optimise energy consumption.
Recycling and Emissions Reduction
We’re strengthening our environmental efforts through targeted recycling initiatives, including a fuel cell-specific recycling program in the UK. Instead of mass disposal, we focus on precise component separation to maximise material recovery.
Our handheld devices are systematically dismantled, with components sorted into categories such as circuit boards, fuel cells, lithium batteries, LCD displays and plastics and metals. Specialised recycling operators regularly collect and process these materials, improving acceptance rates and environmental performance.
Innovating for Sustainability
We explore new ways to improve our supply chain and align with sustainable practices. This includes:

- Hybrid remote testing solutions that reduce travel-related emissions
Passive Testing
Passive alcohol testing offers rapid results to verify the absence or prescence of alcohol. It enables fast, pass/ fail processing with minimal disruption and resource use. From an environmental perspective, passive testing eliminates the need for disposable mouthpieces or straws.
